Angine de Poitrine

Angine de Poitrine are one of the fastest and weirdest rising acts around right now. They absolutely exploded after their KEXP concert, and thankfully one of my friends managed to get tickets in time because they were extremely limited and highly sought after. And may I say, seeing these guys perform live was surreal.

What I noticed from the very first second was the amount of people who showed up in polka dots and merch. There are very few bands that already have such a strong and interactive fanbase after only a few months of breaking through internationally.

They are also clearly getting very used to that interaction. From weird squatting movements and getting the crowd to move along, to people screaming and shouting things in their own language and the band immediately replying in the same way. The funniest moment was probably them trying to say something in Dutch.

Some might argue that their musical style can get repetitive, but I think they proved otherwise. I wasn't bored for a single second. The drummer is out of this world, with ridiculous energy, insane timing and quite possibly the goofiest nose in the industry. Meanwhile, the bassist/guitarist goes completely full-ham on his double-neck guitar/bass, with his feet practically performing as a third band member.

It was worth every single second of my puny lifetime, and with the trajectory they're on right now, I can't wait to see them again in an even bigger venue.
